Peter Watson, our Chair

With 11 senior teams and a thriving youth section, the club, which will be celebrating its 125th anniversary next year, is in a strong position.

Hosting a EuroHockey tournament of this standing is a huge privilege but also a large undertaking, both in terms of financial commitment and in personnel. While we are already grateful for the financial and other support we currently receive from a range of individuals and companies we would ask you to consider if you can assist us with this special event.

The Tournament will be held at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club in Royal Hillsborough from 18th – 21st April 2025.

We were awarded the honour of hosting the 2025 event following an international tendering process. It will be only the 2nd time in the Club’s history that we host a European Club competition, with the previous tournament being in 1989.

We are one of the premier hockey clubs on the island of Ireland, with unrivalled success in terms of trophies at all levels and representing Irish hockey in European competition since the inception of the club in 1901. We also count many former and current players as Olympians, including 5 of the Ireland squad in the 2024 Paris Games.

Lisnagarvey has a proud record of hosting well organised, well attended and successful events and tournaments at all levels. These range from children’s and youth tournaments through schools, senior club and interprovincial tournaments and International matches for Hockey Ireland Senior Men’s team.

History of the Tournament

The EuroHockey Club Trophy, first played in 1981, is an annual men’s field hockey competition organised by the EuroHockey for European hockey clubs.

It is the second most prestigious European club competition, being one tier below the top men’s European club competition, the Euro Hockey League.

EuroHockey is the governing body of hockey in Europe. It’s composed of the Members Associations of European nations (43) that govern hockey in their countries. EuroHockey is one of 5 Continental Federations that are affiliated to the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the world governing body for hockey.

The EuroHockey Club Trophy (Men) competition is a 7 team tournament with teams from the Europe with qualification to enter as a result of domestic success in National Competitions.

The teams who have qualified are:

Lisnagarvey HC (Ireland)
Grange Hockey Club (Scotland)
ASD Tevere Eur Hockey (Italy)
SK Slavia Praha(Czechia)
CAM92 (France)
OKS-SHVSM Vinnitsa (Ukraine)
